Set the gap.
Position the plates.
The clips slide onto the plate edge before tack welding. Their wire diameter acts as a spacer to set the root gap between the components.
See how they are used
Slide them on instead of inserting loose spacers.
Tack, fold and fit: the plates are attached to the component and shaped to suit the joint preparation. They serve as run-on or run-off pieces at the edge of the joint.

Check throat thickness (a) and leg length (z) on welds: the engraved gauge blades are a convenient tool for operator checks, including asymmetrical and convex welds.
